Accounting Specialist Malaysia
Responsibilities
Act as the Malaysia Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME) during ERP implementations, working closely with ERP Consultants and Project Managers to ensure local compliance and accuracy.
Provide advice on how to reflect Malaysian financial regulations (MFRS, SST, LHDN income tax, EPF, SOCSO, EIS) in ERP system configurations.
Assist in validating localized setup: chart of accounts, tax codes (SST), withholding logic, statutory payroll contributions, and financial statement formats.
Translate statutory and industry-specific accounting requirements into actionable system recommendations for developers and consultants.
Review financial reports and ERP output to ensure alignment with Malaysian corporate reporting standards.
Contribute to UAT by checking outputs against local tax rules (e.g., SST filings, PCB/PAYE deductions, employer contributions).
Monitor regulatory changes and proactively inform the team about updates that affect ERP system logic or reporting.
Participate in solution design meetings, provide documentation and flowcharts where necessary, and support training sessions from a regulatory perspective.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; membership in MIA, MICPA, or ACCA is a strong plus.
3–5 years of practical accounting experience, with expertise in Malaysian tax laws, SST, and statutory contributions.
ERP project exposure as a key accounting contact or subject expert is a strong advantage.
Strong working knowledge of Malaysian accounting and payroll standards (including LHDN tax filing, EPF/SOCSO/PCB).
Ability to interpret business/accounting needs and translate them into system requirements.
Collaborative and detail-oriented, with the ability to work well in fast-paced, project-focused teams.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Acumatica, Dynamics).
